PROGRESS LEAGUE
A recommendation by the league to the borough council to have the matter of the Arrowtown road being declared a State highway and to have the matter brought to the attention of the Minister of Public Works was adopted at the annual meeting of the league held last week. It was also decided to have a petition signed in support of the recommendation. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Mr E. J. Saunders; vice-president, Mr M. Dickson, secretary, Mr W. J. Shaw; committee —Messrs J. H. Douglas, L. Happ, W. R. Gibb, R. Cowie, G. Ogilvie, E. L. Thompson, the president, vice-president, and secretary. An apology for absence was received from Mr E. J. Saunders and the resignation of Mr E. B. Taylor was accepted with regret, and the secretary was instructed to write Mr Taylor in appreciation of hia services.
