PRESBYTERY OF CENTRAL OTAGO
The Presbytery of Central Otago met at St. Enoch’s, Alexandra, last Thursday, the Moderator, the Rev. G. Dallard, presiding. Resignation of Minister The Rev. G. M. Yule, who for the last six years has been minister o£ the Mount Ida (Ranfurly) parish, tendered his resignation as a result of his call to be minister of Edendale. The Rc\. D. D. Heggic (Waipiata) and Messrs R. Syme and D. Burrows, elders from Ranfurly, spoke appreciatively of the excellent progress made in the parish under Mr Yule’s ministry, and members of Presbytery spoke of the valuable services Mr Yule had rendered .as Clerk of Presbytery. The resignation was accepted with regret, and Mr Heggie was appointed Interim Moderator of the Mt. Ida parish during the vacancy. Bible Class Rally The Rev. G. Ballard, Convener of the Presbytery’s Youth Committee, reported that arrangements had been made for the Labour Day Bible Class rally to be held in Alexandra, when it was expected that a large gathering of young people from all parts of Central Otago would take part. Assembly Moderator-Designate Presbytery agreed unanimously to forward the name of the Rev. C. J. Tocker (Invercargill) as its nomination for Moderator-Designate of the General Assembly. Interest in Missions Evidence of the growing interest in the Missionary enterprises of the Church was reported by the clerk, the Rev. G. M. Yule, when he stated that the Budget allocation for the Presbytery had again been exceeded, for L third successive year. ' Assembly Delegates Presbytery appointed as its delegates to attend the General Assembly meetings to be held in Christchurch, the Revs. P. Anderson, J. C. Doig, D. D. Heggie, and G. Dallard, and Messrs W. Bringans, R. J. Gibson and B. Harraway.
