Well-attended Meeting
The September meeting of the W.D.F.F. was held in the school room last Saturday. Mrs Summers presided over an excellent attendance. A motion of sympathy to Mrs J. B. Hamilton in the loss of her mother was passed. A welcome was extended to Mrs Hore and Mrs Mills. Apologies were received from Mesdames J. B. Hamilton, W. Clingin and D. Reid. Members- heard with regret that the proposed trip -to Amsterdam of the Dominion president, Mrs Elliot, had to be cancelled because of shipping difficulties. After all correspondence had been dealt with, Mrs Cockburn, executive member, discussed the breaking-up of the Otago executive. Mrs G. Bowler reported on the Cromwell branch birthday party. Arrangements were.made for the next meeting to be held at Gibbston, members requiring transport to meet at the school at 2 p.m. The roll call, three oven scones, was well responded to. Winners were Mrs R. Scott 1, Mrs A. Reid 2, Mrs E. Thompson- 3. Other competitions resulted: Big bloom. —Miss Kinross 1, Miss Kinross and Mrs H. McLean, equal, 2, Mrs R. Scott and Mrs W. P. Saunders, equal, 3. Small bloom.—Mrs G. Bowler 1, Mrs A. Reid 2, Mrs C. Walker 3. Hostesses were Mesdames W. McLean, G. Ogilvie and G. D. Paterson. The roll call for the October meeting is the “.Definition of a good Neighbour.” The Garden Club proved of great value to members, many exchanges of bulbs, plants and seedlings being made.
