QUEENSTOWN BEATS ARROWTOWN Bright Game in Final
Queenstown defeated Arrowtown by 11 points to 6 in the final round of the Rugby football competition, played at Arrowtown last Saturday. This win brings Queenstown’s cup points equal with Country’s, and the play, off will be at Arrowtown on Saturday next. Queenstown won the" toss and decided to play into the sun in the first spell. In the first ten minutes of play a penalty kick against Arrowtown commenced a, passing rush by the Queenstown backs, from which Sandus scored. Murdock’s kick at goal failed. Offside play by Queenstown gave Arrowtown a penalty, and Little’s kick evened the score to 3 all. half time a nice try by Baker put the home side in the lead by 3 points. In the second spell Ray Sandus again crossed the Arrowtown goal line to score. Murdock converted. Arrowtown was penalised for offside play and Murdock’s kick was successful, the game ending with the score Queenstown 11 Arrowtown 6 Of the two packs of forwards, Arrowtown, if anything, was superior, but the passing rushes by the Queenstown backs, invariably set going by the veteran player Robins, were the chief factor in the result of the game. Mr A. Erridge was the referee.
