FOOTBALL NOTES
By Scrum Half The Arrow forwards worked hard in their clash on Saturday against the Queenstown pack, but their backs gave a very indifferent display. L. Oakes is improving with every game and was the only Arrowtown back who looked at all likely. M. Dudley, the Arrowtown full-back, fielded the ball well, but should try for more length with his line kicking. Mr J. S. Brown, Wakatipu selector, has selected a number of players for week-end 'practice. It is to be hoped that all men chosen will turn up as this is a move in the right direction. K. Saunders is a great worker in the Arrow pack. This type of player aften misses the selector’s eye. The standard of play might improve in the district if there was a little less talk on the field and a lot more action. Payne, Queenstown half-back’s try around the side of the. scrum was a good effort. R. Cumberbeach was not kicking as well as usual.
