Borough Council Confirmation
The appointment of the Mayor, Mr J. Fletcher, and Cr J. H. Douglas to the Lake County Historical Committee was approved at the monthly meeting of the Arrowtown _Borough Council, held on Tuesday of last week. The rates of the Arrowtown Borough Council were confirmed at the monthly meeting, pf the. council on Tuesday last week.
Present at the .meeting were the Mayor,.Mr E. L. Thompson, Crs W. J. Shaw, A.' C. Erridge, J. K. Cowie, C. J. SaufideW aneTJ. W. Jlleied. An apology for absbriee w'lis r received from Cr Henderson. The Mayor welcomed Cr Saunders back to the council. Cr Saunders had been absent since the time he joined the armed forces. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed, outward cßrrespondenee approved and inward received. Cr E. B. Taylor’s resignation from the!i;council was accepted with regret. Mrl Talylor stated that he had derived a deal 1 of; pleasure while a member of the council, and would watch the council's operations with the keenest interest.
It was decided to inquire from the Power Board regarding replacement of coloured lamps.

particulars of same,
The report of the inspector of health was received. The Rehabilitation Department wrote asking for two councillors to be nominated to the local Rehabilitation Committee, to replace Mr J. H. Douglas.—Crs Saunders and' Reed
were nominated. Mr Henderson’s offer of 10s a cord for trees shading his garden was
accepted. ... Mr C. H. McKay, solicitor, applied for the transfer of section 1, block 28, section 2, block 28, and section 5, block 26, from Miss Edwards to James Cowie. —The transfer was granted. ? The New Zealand Standard Institute’s communication in reference to by-laws was received.
It was resolved to offer pipes for sale to Messrs Birehell and Hensman. After discussion on a report of the condition of the hall floor at the last dance, it was considered that the use of ballroom powder was the chief cause of the excessive dust.

It was decided to place certain arrears of - rent in the hands of a solicitor fov“collection.
The report , as submitted by the chairman of the Works Committee was adopted, and it was resolved to employ Mr J. Hansen for a further 14 days i* tidying up the cemetery. Authority was also granted to burn the rubbish in the old, -.cemetery. ;i tfljams and specithp; faqptpatfp house wore submitted by the Building Controller.
