Would-be Motorists Need to Know Road Regulations
Many applicants for driving tests design their own failure to pass by neglecting to become conversant with the regulations, according to the traffic inspector, Mr R. O. Wilkinson, in conversation with a representative of the Mail. Such applicants, said Mr Wilkinson, were unable to give correct answers to questions dealing with traffic rules. In most cases the practical performance given is quite up to the required standard, but lack of knowledge in driving rules, road courtesy and parking regulations leaves much to be desired. The inspector stated that both the Boroughi and County Councils had ample supplies of the department’s booklet, which sets out all requirements, therefore there was no excuse for lack of knowledge on the part of the applicant.
On Friday last the inspector was observed placing “ tickets ” on the driving wheels of cars wrongly parked, etc.
