WEDDING

Boyden—Sims

A wedding of local interest took place at the Methodist Church, Hastings,, on July 5, when Joy Edith, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs C. V. H. Sims, Hastings and formerly of Arrovvtown, was married'to lan Hamilton, elder son of Mr and Mrs W. Bpyden, Dannevirke. The Vicar, the Rev. R. G. Harris officiated and Miss Napier was organist. Escorted by her father the bride made a charming picture in a gown of parch-, merit satin with insets of lace. The bodice was swathed and. was buttoned from the neckline to the waist at the .back. The shirred skirt fell from the low waist-lino and formed a full scalloped train at the back. The front of -the gown was panelled. The long sleeves came to a point over the hands. The short tulle bridal veil was held with a spi-aV of orange blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of winter roses, rose and pink stock and maidenhair fern. She also wore a locket and chain, which her mother and sister both wore on their wedding days. The bride’s sister, Mrs Roy McCracken, matron of honour, wore a gown of pale cinamon cloquc made on similar lines to the bride’s gown. She wore a spray, of flowers in her hair and carried a boquet of autumn tinted flowers, carnations and jonquils. The two little flower girls, Joy Sims and Barbara McCracken, nieces of the bride, wore long frocks of champagne cloque with bodices and sleeves trimmed with frills of net. They wore haloes of net with tiny coloured flowers at each side. The bridegroom’s present to the matron of honour was a gold-mounted fountain pen and the flower girls received gold lockets and chains. The bestman was Mr Noel Allan, “Pakowhai,” Hastings. While the register was being signed Mesdames R. Kemp and A. Parkhill sang a duet. The was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Mrs Symonds. The reception was held at the Rialto reception rooms. The bride’s mother wore a black two-piece suit with black and white accessories. The bridegroom’s mother chose a black ensemble with black accessories. Both wore shoulder sprays of carnations. Mrs • Cliff Sims, wore a navy costume with navy accessories and a shoulder spray of deep pink carnations. For travelling, the bride wore a Harris tweed costume with rust aOOM series. The honeymoon was spent at Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, and Arrowtown. The future home of Mr and Mrs Boyden will be Rua-roa, Hastings.
