QUEENSTOWN RED CROSS
“ Save the Children Campaign ”
The “ Save the Children Campaign ” resulted in 17 assorted cartons of garments and food being sent to Dunedin, it was reported at a meeting of the Queenstown sub-branch of the Red ' Cross Society held at the residence of Mrs W. Mclnnes on Thursday, July 17. Included in this number was a carton from Arrowtown and one from the head of the Lake. The Queenstown cartons contained 974 garments, 60 pairs of boots and shoes, 14 packets of food and one parcel of sundries, it was stated. Donations amounting to £9 Os 6d were received and this amount was used locally on purchasing new garments. It was resolved that the thanks of the society be extended to all those who helped to make the drive such a success and to Mr G. D. Cochrane, for advertising same at the pictures. Accounts amounting to 10s Cd. wor? passed for payment. Mrs H. Tomkios presided over the following members:—Mesdamcs W. A. Anderson, W. Mclnnes, C. MurcJiison, and E. O. Clayton. Apologies were received from Mrs Chilwell, Mrs Cockburn, Miss Earland, and Miss J. Thom<#on. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward aorrespondenee was approved and the inward received.
