Reserved Decision Given The reserved decision of the Stipendiary Magistrate, Mr A. E. Dobbie, in regard to eight shopkeepers trading in Queenstown for exemption from the opening and closing hours of their respective shops made under the Shops and Officers Amendment Act, at the last sitting of the Court held in July, has now been summed up and the following decisions have been made by the Magistrate:— Application of George Douglas Cochrane, commercial stationer and information bureau agent: Order made granting the exemption applied for. Application of Gerald Laurence Lynch, general storekeeper: Application refused. Application of Charles Alan Inglis, confectioner, green-grocer, fruit, groceries, fancy goods and tobacco: F«t the reasons set out in the judgment tuf order was made granting exemption from observing the opening and closing hours fixed by the award and fixing in lieu thereof the following opening and closing hours for his shop,, namely, . on five working days in the week from 8 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. During the extended hours fixed by this order the applicant is not to sell or attempt to sell or to expose for sale any groceries, tobacco or cigarettes. Liberty is reserved for any occupier of a shop affected by this order to apply for cancellation thereof for any breach of it. Application of James McDonald, tea rooms proprietor, confectioner, soft drinks, fancy goods and stationery: Order made granting exemption from observing the opening and closing hours of the award and in lieu thereof the following opening and closing hours, on five working days of the week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, for breach thereof same conditions to apply, as previous applicant. Application of Catherine Jane Mills and Robert John Mills, confectioners, stationers, souvenir goods, post cards, periodicals and reading matter: Exemption granted and for the period from the Ist day of December to the 31st day of March in the succeeding year fixing in lieu thereof the following hours on five working days of the week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. . Liberty to apply is reserved as set out in the ease of previous applicant. Application of George Ambrose Walsh, dairy, produce, groceries, stationary and tobacco. Exemption gram ted and the following hours to be observed from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Liberty to apply is reserved as set out in previous applications. Application of Arthur Roy Skinner, fruiterer, greengrocer, confectioner, and tobacco: Granted exemption and the following hours to be observed from \ Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 9.30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Liberty to apply is reserved as set out in previous application. Application of Gordon Victor Wilkinson, chemist and fancy goods. Should it be found necessary for applicant to proceed with his application liberty is reserved for him to bring it on for hearing at the next sitting of the Court in Queenstown. The following general conditions apply to all applications in which an order granting exemption has been made. Namely, the order is not to confer any right on the applicant to sell or attempt to sell or expose for sale during such extended hours any goods of a kind which at the time of his application rvere not kept for sale by him. Liberty is reserved to apply further should it be deemed necessary.
