VALEDICTORY
Mr and Mrs E. B. Taylor During the course of the concert by the Arrowtown Entertainers, the opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs E, B. Taylor and family, who will be shortly leaving the district, having been transferred to Outram. Little Jill Henderson presented Mrs Taylor with a box of flowers. His Worship the Mayor was in the chair and paid high tribute to Mr Taylor as a citizen and a member of the Arrow Borough Council. He stated that Mr Taylor had been a most energetic citizen during his two years’ stay in Arrow, and he considered Mr Taylor had done more for the furtherance of Arrowtown than anyone else, and his sterling service would long be remembered and it was with extreme regret that he was saying farewell. Mrs Gr. Ogilvie, president of the Entertainers, then spoke, stating that she thought it was very fitting that a break should be made in the programme in order to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Taylor, as everyone know Mrs Taylor and Mrs Carroll were responsible for the Arrowtown Entertainers having come into being. Mr Taylor was our president, and I can only say how sorry we all are that he and his family are leaving Arrowtown. On behalf of the Arrowtown Entertainers I wish Mr and Mrs Taylor and family the very best of everything, always, in their new sphere. The vicar, the Rev. P. C. Williams, also paid high tribute to Mr and Mrs Taylor, stating that Mr Taylor would be sorely missed as a member of the Arrowtown Parish Vestry and for his good work for the church. Mr T. Dalrymple (secretary of the Arrowtown Football Club) stated that his club had greatly appreciated the keen interest Mr Taylor had taken in football, he being responsible for the reformation of the club. He had given wonderful service as president and delegate to the Sub-union, and on behalf of the football club he wished Mr and Mrs Taylor and family all good wishes. The chairman, Mr E. T. Thompson, in making the presentation of a wellfilled envelope, wished Mr and Mrs Taylor and family all the best wishes on behalf of the citizens of Arrowtown and district.
Mr Taylor in replying, thanked everyone for their good wishes and for the gift that had been made. He stated that their stay in Arrowtown had been most enjoyable and the friendship the people of Arrow and district had extended to them was wonderful and was much appreciated both by Mrs Taylor and himself.
