SHORTAGES AND SHORT TEMPERS
Last week was the bleakest and the most trying for many local homes and husbands. Owing to the winter conditions suddenly appearing in full force, extra fuel was required, and many found that the coal situation had suddenly become more acute tlufn usual, and if one was lucky a small ration of slow
coal was available. Others stormed the
town in search of that tormenting weed
in the hope that some shop had secured its quota. We sincerely hope for the family’s sake that the wearily-awaited has arrived by the time the Mail goes to press and that once again there will
he a smile on Dad’s face. Or perhaps it
may be Mum’s!
