SOME BULL

The arrival of cattle by the Lake Steamer, is always looked upon by the younger generation as a treat in .store. One night during the week when bulls had been prophesied as arriving, the youngsters as well as many adults had their full money’s worth of entertainment. After the cattle had been safely unloaded on to the wharf, one beast thought it would try its luck at swimming the bay and promptly jumped over the end of the jetty, and was not seen until a report came through from Closeburn Station (5 miles away) that a steer had been located in that area. The rest of the herd, had different ideas about being driven around ' the back streets and thev headed for the heart of the township before the drovers finally righted them on their last journey.
