WEDDING

TURNER—JOHNSON

A wedding of interest to Queenstown district people was celebrated in First Church, Invercargill, on March 29, when Anne Elizabeth, only daughter of Mrs and the late W. C. Johnson, of Queenstown, was married to W. C. Turner, eldest son of Mr and the late Mrs Turner, of Maori Hill, Dunedin. The bride was given away by her eldest brother. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. J. A. Thomson. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines trimmed with sequins and buttoned down the back, with a long train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of wax lilies, and she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, roses, and regal lilies with maidenhair fern streamers. The bride was attended to by Miss M. Cousins as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of English pink satin buttoned down the back with a lace insertion in the sleeves and a low waistline with a gathered skirt.

Bhc wore a head-dress of })ink velvet roses, and carried a bouquet of carnations, roses and gladiolias with maidenhair streamers to tone. The flower pirls, Marion and Beverley Martin, were

dressed alike in empire frocks of blue spotted georgette and they wore bandeaus of silver and pleated georgette. They carried posies of gladiolias, carnations and chrysanthemums. Mr J. O, Turner attended his brother as best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horse shoe bj her second cousin, Elizabeth Martin, The reception was held at the Tudor Lounge. The guests were received by the bride’s mother and Mrs Jackson, aunt of the bridegroom. For travelling the bride wore a navy tailored suit with matching accessories.

Mr and Mrs Turner will live at Cone Peak, Queenstown.

Before her wedding the bride was entertained at the Koval Cafe, Queenstown, and received wany useful gifts.
