QUEENSTOWN BRANCH RED CROSS SOCIETY
A general meeting of the members of the local branch of the Red Cross Society and representatives of the adult and youth organisations of Queenstown and Arrowtown was held in the Parish Hall on June 5 to make arrangements for the “ Save the Children ” campaign. His Worship the Mayor, Dr W. A. Anderson was in the chair. Mrs W. Melnnes being acting president in the absence of Mrs H. Tomkies.
It was decided to hold a Clothes Drive on Saturday, June 14, the drive to start at 1.45 p.tn. The following offered to provide cars, Mrs luder. Dr Anderson, Miss Hamilton, Rotary Club, Rev. P. Anderson, Mr W. H. Thompson. Pamphlets, pointing out the aims and objects of the drive are to he distributed among the schools.
Depots to receive the goods are to be Mrs E. Thompson’s Tearooms, Arrowtown and the Parish Hall, Queenstown. A donation of £1 was received from St. Peter’s Sunday School.
