"THE DIGGERS."
THE LYRIC, SATURDAY NEXT,
" Too good to be missed," " and they really are," says the Brisbane Daily Mail, for there isn't the semblance of a " dud " in the outfit. On the contrary, all are artists, and some of them really brilliant artists. Stan Lawson, the principal "lady" of the company, fills " her" piquant role to perfection. In no detail is the perfection of his impersonation of the pretty, sparkling "flapper" marred by a single flaw. His dancing is superb, and he cuts his feminine capers in gowns of exquisite and charm. Tano Fama, an old friend and favourite, is as clever and versatile as ever, and his comedy is clean, incisive and irresistibly funny. The quartette provided a feast of melody, and, as with every one of the soloists, sweet-voiced songsters were called ■*upon to sing again and yet again. Every item was well staged, and the whole programme was quite up to the best pro--11 fessional standard. <( The Diggers' " own orchestra—a strong musical combination under the direction of Mr Bernard Cottier —supplied the, finishing touch to an altogether admirable show. " The Diggers'' will appear at the Lyric Theatre, Helensville, on Saturday night. Every item presented will be entirely new to local audience, and a host^of sparkling novelties and new comedy numbers and burlesque is promised. An outstanding feature of the programme will be the Maori scena, which is a beautifullymounted scene of picturesque beauty, with Stan Lawson as a Maori maid. This will be the last opportunity amuse-ment-lovers will have of seeing this brilliant combination of artists, as The Diggers are bound for " fresh fields and pastures new." Included in the company are Stan Lawson, misleading lady ; Tano Fama, comedian; Frank Perkins, baritone ; Gus Dawson, ragtime exponent and dancer ; George Proctor, tenor ; D. Stuart, comedian ; Colin Cameron, lyric tenor; Len Walker, dancer and light comedian; and Don Wallace, character signer. The box plan, which is rapidly filling up, is at Stewart's Bakery. Phone 58 at once.
