SALE OF WORK

PRESBYf ERIAN EFFORT.

As was the case the previoui year, - the clerk of the weather was not favourably disposed towards the sale of work held in the Star Theatre on Saturday afternoon and evening last, but a wet, miserable day did not prevent the public from attending and contributing to the very real success of the venture. A large variety of goods were on sale at the various stalls, indicating that a lot of work had been accomplished in the making and gathering together of the hundred and one things that go to make in affair of this kind attractive to the thrifty housewife. The home industries^ exhibition was not as well repreT sented as it might have been, butthe weather could be blamed for that, because it was no inducement to exhibitors to bring entries in on such a morning. The usual numerous competitions—from guessing the rooster's appellation to indicating the number of yards of ribbon round the doll's neck—:were in full force, and the persuasive youngsters who had charge of these attractions netted a good amount towards the funds. As is always the case, a lot of hard work was the portion of the members' of the Ladies' Guild and the Men's Committee also did their share. The secretaries responsible to a good extent for the success of the sale of work were Miss Simcock and Mr J. H. Leonard, while Mrs J. Wilson held the position of treasurer. During the evening Rev.
