LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT.
An all-day Pairs Tournament was played on Monday. The weather was threatening, but the rain kept off until after the game. A. very enjoyable time was spent by those present, but it was rather disappointing to the promoters that about twelve Savage Club players who were expected to participate, for some reason or other did not turn up. Refreshments were provided by the club members during the day. Following are the scores : — Ist Round : T. W.Dwerryhouse, Campbell 14 v. Sandin, Hill 32 ; Stanaway, Ellett 12 v. Walton, Hammond 29 : Aitkenhead, R. Smith 19 v. Screaton, Mouat 25.
2nd Round: Hammond 7 v. Mouat 11; Ellett 10 v. Hill 9; Smith 12 v. Campbell 8.
3rd Round: Hammond 11 v. Hill 11; Ellett 11 v. Smith 14; Mouat 11 v. Campbell 16.
4th Round: Hammond 18 v. Campbell 5; Mouat 3 v. Ellett 19 ; Hill 7 v. Smith 12.
sth Round: Hammond 8 v. Smith 6; Mouat. 9 v. Hill 12; Campbell 6 v. Ellett 14.
Winners : Walton. Hammond
