The programme given by the Glee Party (under the conductorship of Dr Bennett) consisted for the most part of glees, beautifully and faithfully rendered by the twenty odd ladies and gentlemen who comprised the party. In addition instrumental items by M> and Misses Lloyd, and the humorous Scoth items by Mr Swan pleased the audience immensely. The pianoforte solo by Mr Elliott was one of the best items of the evening, and although this player responded to a double encore, the audience would have liked still more. At the conclusion, Rev. C. Houchen, on behalf of those present, thanked the visitors for their excellent entertainment, which he said had been a treat for one and all.
After the- concert, a tasty supper was provided, which was done justice to by a large number. A dance was also held, and an enjoyable time spent in this manner for a few hours.
The Ladies' Guild, including the capable secretary (Mrs J. Vercoe) are to be congratulated on the success of the evening, which more than repaid all the time and trouble spent in making arrangements, including such items as decorating the stage, providing supper, etc. W« understand a substantial sum will go towards the Memorial Church fund.
