THE DINNER.

In the evening the visitors were entertained at dinner in Mr Gardner's wool shed. The ladies had spared no pains to make a success of the evening in providing the many good things that •were partaken of. The place was well lit up with lamps and candles and the tables nicely decorated with flowers. All the visitors spoke highly of tho way in which they had been catered for and a special word of praise is due to Mesdarnes H. A. Hooper and R. Gardner, and the Misses Gardner, for their untiring efforts in this respect. Following is the toast list: —" The King," proposed by the chairman. Mr Hooper; "The Visitors," proposed by Mr Gardner, responded to by Mr J. Downer; "Referee's Association," proposed by Mr H. Mather, responded to by Messrs J. Downer and T. Cooper; "Kindred Sports," proposed by Mr H. Mather, responded to by Messrs Cooper and Colvin; " The Ladies," proposed by Mr Constable, responded to by Mr Hooper; " The Press," proposed by Mr H. Mather, and responded to by the representative present. A duet was given by Mrs Gardner and H. Hooper, a pianoforte solo by Mrs R. Gardner, and a cornet solo by Mr Paul; recitations by Messrs Porter, Gardner and C. Dixon. Songs were contributed by Messrs McGarvey, Agassiz, S. Davis, Wi Davis, H. Hooper and Master Charles Smith (Kaukapakapa). The Maori visitors sang several songs in Maori and under the leadership of Mr Sam Davis, six Maori members performed two war hakas, which were highly appreciated by all. Mr Harold Mather was in charge of the "gramaphone department" and the selections were enjoyed by all. Mrs R. Gardner played the accompaniments.

Before the close of the evening Mr Porter, on behalf of the Maoris, thanked the Glorit people for the trouble they had gone to in entertaining them and giving them a right royal time, and be especially thanked the ladies for their kindness to the team. Mr Hooper responded on behalf of the ladies.
