GLORIT WINS SHIELD
The Helensville-Glorit match which was to have been played at Glorit on Saturday last, was forfeited by Helensville, who were unable to get a team together to travel. The fixture was the deciding one in the competition, and Glorit thus has the honour of winning the shield for this season. The winners are to be congratulated on their achievement, as they are the young«st team in the Kaipara Rugby Union, and the keenest. On Saturday last everybody turned out at Glorit, and a scratch game was played. The supporters of football in that district have only seen one match played at Glorit this season, but are living in hopes that things will be better and evener next season. Once the shield is in the Glorit district, football enthusiasts are determined to keep it there, and to that end preparations for a good team next season will be made early.
The Waikumete - Helensville match has been postponed to Saturday week.
The Maoris intend taking a team to Glorit on Saturday week and they are assured they will meet with a great reception.
