MAORIS (0) V. HELENSVILLE (20).

A fair number of spectators ■witnessed the above match at the Show Grounds on Saturday afternoon. The ground was not in the best of condition for fast and open play. Helensvilha set up a warm attack from tlie kick off and ran all over the Maoris, whose backs and forwards were apparently out of condition. The game was more or less of a scramble, with little combination shown on either side, and the standard ofplay generally was degrees below representative form. The tackling generally was sound and keen, but there were instances when a player was unnecessarily handled after he had got rid of the ball The Helensville forwards showed good form in the dribbling rushes, •specially in the breakaway from the line with Stewart in the lead, but too freque»tly it was the work of an individual, rather than massed team play. Montgomery was the best all-round forward in the.Helensville pack, and he was well supported by Pengelly and Stewart. The pick of the back division were Sykes, Becroft, Baker and Agrassiz. The Maori forwards were a hard working pack and were well backed up by the Davis Bros., Constable and Paul. Scores were obtained by Cooper, ColTin (2), Agrassiz (2), and Wright. Montgomery took all the kicks and registered two at difficult angles. Mr Drinnan (Kaukapakapa) carried the whistle.
