WHARF NIGHT WATCHMAN.

At the inqueet on the late Mr C. Zisk«T r on Sunday last, the question of having a nightwatchman stationed at the Heltnsville wharf was brought up. The Dargaville wharf has a nightwatchman, and with practically the same amount of v work here, and increasing night work, it seems very advisable that a man bt stationed at ttjs end.

The quettien of more lighting was alto mentioned, and while both interested rarties-the Railway Department and the Shipping Company-recog-mse the need for more illumination, both parties, apparently, are waiting for the other to make a move in this direction. It appears, also, that the company hat for some time, been pressing for a more easily approachable berth for night boats, but the Railway Department will not concede this point, claiming that the present berth i s mO re convenient to the goods sheds
