DRIVING ON FOOTPATHS.

[to the editor]. Sir, —Will you kindly permit me space to air a grievance. Gow street, that leads off Garfield. road towards my house, happens to have been somewhat muddy recently, and some carts have contracted the habit of being driven on the footpath. The latter has not been very long nor strongly laid down, and. you can readily imagine the state into which it is rapidly deteriorating. I write this appeal to the common sense of those driving carts to keep to the road. The Town Board has a by-law prohibiting vehicles being driven on the footpaths, and if this appeal be unsuccessful, and the practice continues, I intend, at the risk of having myself disliked, to see that information is laid against the offenders under the by-law.— I am, etc., M. Matheson.
