KAIPARA RUGBY UNION.

A meeting of delegates of the above Union was held at Helensville on Saturday evening last, the following being present : — Messrs Matheson and Mouatfc (Helensville), W. Gardiner and H. Mather (Glorit), J. Bellini and Cole (Kaukapakapa) and S. Paul and Wharu (Maoris). Mr Bellini occupied the chair, and the secretary (Mr L. Sykes) was also present.

The minutes of the last management committee meeting on August 7th were the subject of a good deal of discussion. The committee had met and decided to arrange a visit from the Otamatea (Maungaturoto) Union to Helensville to play a rep. match on August 28th. It was also decided that two trial matches be played to choose a team. This decision meant suspending cup fixtures for three weeks, and strong exception was taken to this course by the Glorit delegates, who pointed out that if such postponement took place the competitions would not finish so far as the Glorit players were concerned, because the date of resumption would be too close to the milking season to enable players taking further part in the game this season.

Mr Cole, one of the Kaukapakapa delegates, was also of the opinion that cup matches should be finished before rep. fixtures took place.

Mr M. Matheson, a Helensville delegate, stated he had never been in favour of rep.

matches, as they invariably upset the competition.

Another grievance brought forward by the Glorit delegates was the action of the management committee in postponing—at what they considered insufficient notice —the cup fixture between Kaukapakapa and Glorit on August 7th, thereby putting the latter team and supporters to a good deal of inconvenience. The rights of the management committee to over-rule delegates and order postponements was the subject of a lot of;,discussion. Ac one period the chairman, alleging that aspersionjs had been cast on the Kaukaukajpa club, vacated the chair, but upon explanations being made, resumed the position. Kaukapakapa were quite willing to visit Glorit on the date mentioned. Suggestions tha,t the rep. visit be postponed for a fortnight to enable the cup competition to finish were made, but the eventual decision made was in the nature of a compromise: That cup fixtures go on next Saturday, the rep. match to be played the following Saturday (August 28th) \ and cup fixtures the Saturday after. The minutes were then confirmed. s . ■ It was decided that Glorit take the gate proceeds of the Kau-kapakapa-Glorit match at the latter place on Saturday next The collectors for the shield fund reported having secured about £15 towards the cost. Mr W. Mouatt submitted a design which was approved, and it was decided to place an order with Mr C. O. Ketterer for the trophy

It was further decided that the name of the winning team for this season's competitions be placed on the shield.

It was reported that the management committee had arrangements in hand for entertaining the Maungaturoto team when they visited here.
