PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
ANNUAL REPORT
The annual meeting of the congregation was held in the church on July 29th, when a fair attendance was recorded.
The annual report was as follows : —The managers extend their very sincere thanks to all members and adherents for their loyal support, both at the Helensville centre and other out-dis-tricts. This being Mr Butterworth's first year as minister of the charge, the congregation are to be congratulated in having such a sincere and able man, and the managers trust that the members will rally round him and help him onward in the work of God.
Obituary: It is with sincere regret that we have to record the death of one of our esteemed sisters, Miss F. McLeod having passed away to the Great Beyond after a very short illness. We extend our deep and sincere sympathy to all relatives.
Attendances: The attendance at all services has been fairly well maintained, but there is room for improvement in this respect.
The secretary's annual report read: The year's work has been well maintained throughout the charge, and compares favourably with past years, both spiritually and financially. The preaching at all times has been of a high standard in all parts of the district. Every engagement has been faithfully kept. The word of God has been carried out in a very efficient manner and progress has been made
Communion: Services have been held throughout the charge and on the whole have been well attended. Further reference to the spiritual part of the church will be found in session records.
Organist : Miss Stewart continues to preside at the services and the thanks of the church are due to her for the proficient manner she has performed her duties.
Finance: The church is in a good position. After all accounts and liabilities have been discharged your managers are enabled to report a substantial balance. Balance from last year, £6 16s 6d ; receipts from all sources, £416; making a grand total of £423 15s.
The expenditure was £374 14s Bd, leaving a balance of £49 Is.
Ladies' Working Guild: The ladies are to be congratulated on the success of their sale of work, th amount thus gamed —£107 — being a welcome addition to the finances. The church extends to to them sincere thanks for their valued assistance in the work of God.
Sunday School: This part ot the work has been under Mr and Mrs C. P. Thompson, assisted at various times by other willing helpers. The children have been well looked after. Although through influenza it was found necessary to close down for a short period, the attendance through the year has been well maintained.
Both reports were considered satisfactory, and were adopted.
Church Improvements : It was decided to re-paint all the interior of the church, for which work tenders are to be called. Also to install an up-to-date pulpit, and seversl minor alterations. These, when finished, will add very materially to the appearance and attraction of the church.
