HELENSVILLE (13) v. KAUKAPAKAPA (3).
Fine weather prevailed last Saturday for the above match, although a fair breeze was blowing. The game, which it was anticipated would prove interesting, turned out a disappointment in many respects. Helensville proved the stronger side, and had a fairly comfortable win. Their forwards played well, and were well backed up by the rear division, who are a very fajst lot. The backs, one and all, "played well, and did not miss any chances. The combination of Becroft, Wright, Montgomery and Mouatt was great, and it was a treat to see them in action. The visiting team did not play up to their former form against the Marois, the backs nearly all showing a disinclination to go " down" to the ball, and as a result of this the fast following Helensville pack helped their side to a lead of 13 —3 before the finish. The visiting forwards played an uphill game from the start and were poorly supported by their half, who lacked the " ginger" to work his rear division. Pouland kicked a goal from a mark for the visitors. For the home team Wright (2) and Mouatt scored —Johnston and the latter registering one each.
Mr Logan McLeod had charge of the whistle, and his decisions gave satisfaction.
