KAUKAPAKAPA
(From our own Correspondent.)
On Tuesday afternoon Mr F. Dye, "the father of Kaukapakapa," met with a painful accident. When walking along between the station and his store, he was knocked down by a horse ridden by a school girl. Mr Dye was badly shaken and bruised about the face and head, and also sustained a nasty cut on the forehead. Medical attention was obtained and it was found necessary to put two stitches in the wound. It is hoped by all that Mr Dye, to whom this district owes so much, will have a speedy recovery.
Mr E. Henley ("Teddy"), a very old resident of Kaukapakapa died on Wednesday in Auckland where he had been in failing health for some months. The funeral took place on Thursday last at the Kaukapakapa cemererv.
The proceeds of the football match last Saturday (about £3) are to be donated towards a fund being raised for the benefit of a local family, recently bereaved.
The ladies' effort in connection with the raising of funds in aid of the Kaukapakapa WaiMemorial met with instant success on Monday last, when a dinner was put on for those who attended the Loan Company's sale. An excellent and plentiful dinner was provided by the ladies at a cost of 2/- rjer head, and afternoon tea was also available. It is estimated that the total proceeds will amount to nearly £20, which will be a good help to the memorial fund.
