STRAY ANIMALS-t-AND FOWLS The caretaker of the Domain wrote complaining of stock and fowls getting on the flower beds and lawns. Mr A. Simcock attended the meeting in connection with an account submitted by him for boring work done at the springs. During a day and a half spent in cleaning out bores, part of the time was occupied in actual boring. The account rendered charged for the day and a half's work at the usual rate, and in addition £4 7s was charged for boring at so much per foot. The Board disputed the extra charge, —and during the last eight months no settlement had been reached.

A long discussion which at times became heated ensued between the members and Mr Simcock, the latter aserting that the Board was " trying to beat him down."

Eventually Mr McLeod moved and Mr West seconded that a compromise be effected by splitting the difference.

After more talk, during which a member said nothing was to be gained by arguing the point, Mr Simcock agreed to accept the sum of £2 3s 6d —half the claim —in settlement.
