MEMORIAL The Kaipara branch of the R.S.A. forwarded a resolution passed at af recent meeting, stat- »_. ing the/c the members were not in favour of a monument as a fitting memorial, but were in favour of whatever money was ill hand being devoted towards a cottage hospital for Helensville. Members of the Board were unanimously in favour of the cottage hospital idea. Ori the motion of the Chairman it was resolved to hold a public ? ' meeting on Thursday, March 25th, and thatthe.same be advertised. PETITION FOR PARK A petition signed by 60 ratepayers was presented, asking the to take necessary steps to "proouie a suitable ground for a park and recreation ground within the township area. One member remarked that the petition was 25* years too late, ajnd such provision should have been made that long ago. A resolution passed at a riieetg* ing of branch of the =*, R.S.A. re this matter was also were in full sympathy & with the petition, and, after discussion, on the motion of the Chairman, it was decided that the matter be discussed at the public meeting to be held on Thursday, March 25th. y In regard to drainage work in second Avenue, it was decided to write to owners of properties . affected, asking if-they are willing, to contribute difference in ' amount for putting in a 6ft and 12ft drain.
The matter of water connections for school swimming baths was held over until next meeting. -.•ItTwasMecided to hold a meeting of the Finance Committee . when replies to applications for v- sanction of water loan were j^^r^ceived. It was decided that work in Awaroa road (for which a loan of £100 had been granted) be put in hand at once. > In regard to the native reserve recently handed over to the town by the Justice Department, it was decided to get boundaries defined. A number of accounts were passed for payment. The clerk reported that the rates had come in fairly well. This concluded the business.
