MONTHLY MEETING.
-, t- ,H sual monthly meeting J^as held on Thursday evening/ December 11th. There were present: Commissioners J. Stewart (chairman), Q, West, T. D. jpohn- ■»» «■ fhompson, and Jas. Mcal so- the clerk (Mr W. F. c Previous meetand confirmed. Outward correspondence was dealt with and approved. Inward. —A letter was received from Waitemata County Council m^espect to the Horseshoe devtfetion, but no new plans were forwarded. A letter from Mr Megson respecting water rates was held over. Letter from Hon J. G. Coates, re grant for the Fishermen's wharf, was received. WATER MATTERS. -—.^JU was decided that a watertrough be placed under trees near the cemetery. The chairman's action in granting the Railway Department permission to extend water connections (or fire purposes was approved. The question of the indiscriminate use of garden hoses at the present time, with water getting scarce, was referred to by Cr. West. It was decided that the water and drainage committee report upon the matter. Cr. Stewart gave notice of motion, for next meeting, that the . proposed water scheme (in respect to the construction of an auxiliary dam above the present one) be proceeded with. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Cr West, it was de- _ cided to have the fire hose tested; In the event of same being unfit for use, it was further decided that sufficient new hose and connection be purchased for. emergencies. It was decided to hold a meeting on Friday (to-morrow) night, of those willing to form a voluntary Fire Brigade. RIGHT OF WAY. A letter was received from Mr W. E. Barnard, solicitor, re a right of way to Dr. Meinhold's property. Mr Barnard also waited upon the Board and explained the matter. A lengthy discussion ensued as to what the Board had don© previously in the same matter. On the motion of Cr. McLeod, seconded by Cr. Johnson, it was decided that Mr Barnard be asked to procure a copy of the original deed, and all particulars, and submit same to Friday night's meeting. RESIGNATION. MrW.W. L. Bradly wrote resigning from the position of wharfinger on the Fishermen's wharf. E .^-. j^ wag ec^( j e^ o advertise for applicants for the position. COLLECTOR AND RANGER. The Chairman's action in appointing Mr Sproston dog tax collector, on the same terms as last year, was approved. On the motion of Crs. Johnson —Thompson, Mr Sproston was „._• also appointed ranger. The appointment of a poundkeeper was left with the Chairman to deal with. It was decided that the charge for dog collar* be the same as last year. ..... _. v^__ GENERAL. The report of the Good Roads Conference, held recently in Auckland, was received, It was decided t'. contribute £1 Is to wards the expenses of the conference. The Board's office will be closed from December 24th to January sth, for the Chrismas and New Year holidays.
