THE ELECTIONS
MR PARR AT PARAKAI
Mr 0. J. Parr, Government candidate for Eden, will address the electors in the Parakai Ha)l on Saturday evening next, at 8.
Polling day is Wednesday next, and then will come the final tug-of-war. So far as Kaipara is concerned, little or no excitement has been caused by the rival candidates. The result is a foregone conclusion for Mr Coates. At the same time electors should not neglect to vote because the sitting member looks an easy winner. En Eden the position is harder. Mr Parr, Government candidate, has a good record as a hard worker for his district, and will gain a large measure of support. Mr R. E. Hornblow (Opposition), was a stranger to the district, but during the past few weeks has got in touch with all parts of the electorate, and has been well received.
Mr Oscar Mcßrine, the official Labour candidate for Eden, evidently pins his faith on the city portion of the electorate for votes, as up to the present he has not paid Parakai, Parkhurst or Te Pua the compliment of visiting these places.
Nominations for candidates closed on Monday evening, and every .seat throughout the Dominion is being contested, with the exception of the Eastern Maori, which returns Hon. A. T. Ngata, the sitting member, unopposed. For the Western Maori no less than twelve candidates are standing, two being Government, one Opposition, and the rest Not Declared.
