HELENSVILLE TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The attendance at the annual general meeting of the above Club, held in the Lyric supper room on Monday evening last, was not large. Mr M. Matheson was voted to the chair. The offices of the Club for the current - season were filled as follovrs :— President, Mr Jas. Stewart; vicepresidents, Messrs J. A. Wilson. A. J. Hill, W. Sandin, C. West, D. Stewart, B. Cuthbert, W. Allen, H. Aitkenhead, Dr. Meinhold, and Hon. J. G Coates, M.P.; secretary, Mr W. E. Barnard; treasurer, Mr M. Matheson ; auditor, Mr M. Maher. It was decided to dispense for the present with the offices of club captain and vice captain, as unnecessary. The following committee was elected : Messrs N. Wallace, C. J. Cla'ridge, K. Stewart, V. McLeod, Mrs Sewell, Mrs Eames, and Miss Coutts. Mr Matheson gave notice that at a special general maeting he would .move: That Rule 20 be altered by $ie deletion of the provision for an entrance fee, and the raiding of the annual subscription to 25/- in the case of gentlemen, and 15/----in the case of ladies. Mr K.Stewart also gave notice that at a special general meeting he would move: That a rule be added to provide -Jft* the admission to the Club of players 16 years at a yearly subscription "^|p- of 5/- each. " "'-■ Mr Matheson reported on the present condition.of the courts. Ono had received a first coating of tar, and as soon as this was dry a further coating would be applied, while it was expected that ■-* «?!l6 sand court would be put in order for play on Saturday next. The question of a formal opening of the courts was left in abeyance until the new yenr in view of the incomplete state of the courts. At the conclusion of the goueral -neoting. a, committee moating was lu-ld, when about fony names o f prospective members weiv handed in. These were formally yoposed and seconded for membership.
