A l&rgaiy attended long night social was held by the Catholic community in the Agricultural Hall on Monday evening, when a very enjoyable time was srent by "all. An unusually large number joined in. the euchre tournament, for which excellent prizes—a tea set for the lady winner, and a razor set for tfee gentleman—were given. The games were very keen, Mrs N. W. Rimmer winning the ladies' prize, after playing off-with Mrs Snell. For the men's first prize five tied, Mr W. Martin finally winning. Prizes for consistent " poor hands " were awarded Mrs G. Andrews and Mr G. Taylor. A finely assorted light supper was served during an interval, being much appreciated by all.
A raffle for a pair of ducks resulted in
Mrs Coulter securing the prime birds. ' Dancing was kept up to a late hour, the excellent music provided by Mrs and Miss Malligan (violin and piano) being a super inducement. . Extras were also played by Misses Lynch, Vercoe, Martin dale, McAnnalley and Donovan. During the evening songs were given by Miss r^?Martindale and Mr G, Murphy, both of whom responded to imperative encores.
