SOCIAL AT PARAKAI.

A social in aid of funds for renovating the Parakai Hall was held in that building last evening, and was fairly well attended, considering the inclement weather. Much appreciated musical items were contributed by the following : Pianoforte solo, Mr Heard ; song. Miss M. White; song, Mr H. White junr. ; song, Mr G. Battle ; musical monologue, Mr Heard; duet, Miss C. and Mr V. Aitkenhead. The ladies of Parakai served up a tip-top supper, which was greatly enjoyad. Mr R. Nicholls, a trustee; of the Hall, gave some particulars as regards finance, and impressed upon his hearers the necessity of making a big effort to reduce the present, debit. Dancing was kept up until midnight, Miss M. Vercoe playing the bulk of the dance music, while Misses F. Vercoe and J(icholls played extras. Mr H. Hart carried jout the onerous duties of M.C.
