POLITICAL PARS.

The Labour c&ndidate for Eden, Mr Oscar Mcßrine, opened his campaign in the Morningside Hall on Tuesday evening, and was given an attentive hearing. The candidate states that he stfcod or fell absolutely by the Labour Party's platform, and not as an individual. Either the party's policy was sound or it was unsound ; He was convinced that it was sound, and he urged the elector to think it over, and if satisfied that it was for the good of the country, to vote for the triumph of that policy.

One of the largest political meetings held in Henderson for many years gathered in the public Hall on Monday to hear Mr R. E. Hornblow, the Liberal candidate. The chair was occupied by Mr Hurdegen. Mr Hornblow spoke for an hour and a half on matters appertaining to the political situGtior:. He- veeeived a iipletidk] hearing, and liis uddveati was rt.peatedly interrupted with applause. Mr Knight, in moving a vote of thanks, stated that the address was one of the best ever delivered in Henderson. The whole tenor of Mr Hornblow's address showed that he was thoroughly conversant with the requirements of an electorate such as Eden, and he felt sure if returned Mr Hornblow would prove a mostreliableand suitable representative, such as Eden required at the present juncture.

Well-attended meetings of the sup-, porters of Mr C. J. Parr, M.P., Government candidate for Eden, have been held at Avondale, and Mount Albert. Strong working committees were formed and officers elected. Mr Parr expressed pleasure at the presence of new members on his committees, and said it was intended to form strong committees in each centre. Mr Parr, by notice in another column, announces that he will address electors in the Parakai Hall tomorrow (Friday) evening, at 8 p.m. Ladies are invited.
