WELCOME f}OME BALL

Ai last, after many many years, things seem to he once more moving in this neighbourhood.

Qne of the most successful functions ever held in the district eventuated a few days ago, when the residents entertained the returned men of the district at a Ball, The hall had been splendidly decorated with nikau, hunting and flowers. One of the largest crowds yet seen in Silverdale Hall gathered by the time the Ball had started. The music, provided by Bartlett's Orchestra from Auckland, was all that could be desired. During the intervals, songs and musical items were rendered by local friends. TVf r .Johns, on, behalf of the residents,'in a neat speech welcomed the'hpys back, and Pte. Bavies suitably responded on behalf of '- the boys."- It was well into: the early hours of morning befqre a most enjoyable and

successful function was brought to a conclusion.

ORANGE BLOSSOMS

A pretty wedding was solemnized in the Methodist Church here on the 9th inst., when Miss Christina Meldrum was married to Mr Victor Taylor of Karao. The bride, who is the daughter of Mr Alex. Meldrum, is very well known locally, haying been born in the neighbourhood. A good number of friends assembled at the church to witness the ceremony, which, was performed by Rev. F. C. Pace. Mr Da vies presided at the organ, and played the Wedding March as the happy couple left, the church. The party returned to the residence of the bride's parents, where the wedding breakfast was served. During the afternoon the newlymarried couple left by motor for Auckland, en route for Kamo, where their future residence is to be.
