Friends of Mr and Mrs W. F. P. Raisher and family spent a most enjoy able time recently at a welcome horn* social given to their son, who has juit returned from service abroad.
Private A. McMillan, of Helensville, returns from service abroard at the end
of this month,
Mr W. E. Barnard, solicitor, who commences practice in i, Helensville on or about October 27th, 5 practiced his profession Te Aroha for. six years prior to enlisting-for service abroad. He served with the R.F.A., and returned from Egypt about two months ago, after a period of three and, a-half years with the Forces.
Mr David Russell, one of the earliert settlers of Taujiaki, where he took up his residence about half a century .ago, has •,.-■ .-. just died at Helensville after a short ill- •:. nes^j Mr Russell, who had attained the age of 80, was a native of Glasgow. "Ha" * arrived at Auckland as a child with" hw \'.. parents, in the Jane Giffprd, on Ocibbw 10,1842. In his early years he followed the occupation of a carpenter, but subsequently was engaged in storekeeping and farming at Taupaki. He was a member * of the Taupaki Sch»ol Committee for "-;> many years, and also a prominent member--, > of the local Presbyterian Church. -Mr / S Russell, who never, married, i« survived - by a brother, Mr W.
