HELENSVILLE A. AND B. ASSOCIATION.

APPOINTMENT OF SECRETARY^^ General and executive committee meetings of the above Association were held on Saturday afternoon last, 13th September. The president, Mr N. W. Rimmer, was in the chair, and there were present the following: Messrs M. Mathieson, W. F. F. Raisher, A. E. Robinson, J. Grey, R. Barnes, E, Day, Jas. Mills, Bert Bradly, C. H, Spinley W. W. L. Bradly, J. C. Rimmer, F. W. Strange, A. J. Garry, H. Aitkenhead, and the secretary (Mr L. L. Bailey). —Condolence — On the motion of Mr &. W. Rimmer, seconded by Mr H. Aitkenhead, it was resolved : " That this meeting expresses its deep and sincere sympathy with Mason and family in the regrettable death of her husband." The motion was carried in silence. —General — It was decided that the returns of the milK teat competition be kept sealed for : seven days after the closing of entries. The revision of the schedule, as decided upon at a previous meeting, was., dealt with. —Executive Matters— The Executive dealt with the following business : It was decided that the lease of the grazing rights of the Show-grounds be sold by public auction at the October stock sale held by the N.A. Farmers' Co-op., Ltd. Correspondence was read and received. Mr C. H. Spinley, who was appointed at a previous meeting to collect outstanding subscriptions, reported having received £14 11s, and in addition,two guineas donated by Mr Garry to the forthcoming show.

For the position of secretary, two applications were received— Messrs C. H. Spinley and A. J. Skelton. On* the motion of Mr H. Aitkenhead, seconded by Mr W. W. L. Bradly, Mr A. J. Skelton was unanimously elected secretary and

treasurer.

High tributes to the work done by the retiring secretary (Mr L. L, Bailey) were paid by Messrs N. W. Rimraer, Jas. McLeod, F. W. Strange, and 8.. Aitkenhead. These remarks were loudly

applauded,

In responding, Mr Bailey said he had only tried to do his duty, and was glad that his efforts were appreciated. Although he was out of office as secretary he would, while in his present occupation, do all he could to help the incoming secretary, and also to further the interests of the Association in general.

It was unanimously decided th.at.Mr Bailey be elected a life member of the Association. Mr Bailey was also appointed a member of all committees.
