WOODHILL SOCIALS.
TO THE EDITOR
Sir.—ln your last issue I noticed one or two remarks re the social given at Woodhill last week. You stated that the social at Helensville was poorly attended owing to a counter attraction at Woodhill. Apparently you have been misinformed, as very few Helensville people made the journey. At 'first it was hoped to run the bus down with a good number, but this did not eventuate, and only three or four people^ from the Hot Springs locality (beg pardon, I nearly put the hot place locality) were present. Whilst on this subject, would you permit me to make a suggestion or two to the persons responsible for getting these "welcomes' up. In the first place, it would be much better if they would study other people's wishes a little bit more. Last week's social and welcome was to have: taken the form of a concert, with supper and dance to follow. This would have been . most popular. The appointed secretary had, in fact, already arranged a good programme, when a few selfish people upset the whole applecart. The worst part was that under the changed conditions the parents and friends of at least onejof the guests of the evening felt unable as a matter of principle to be present. Surely these were the very ones whose known wishes should have been considered. A great amount of feeling has been aroused in the district over this matter, and it would be as well for those responsible to either sink their own selfishness for a while, or make way for those who oan.—l am, etc.,
Disgusted,
