HELENSVILLE INSTITUTIONS.
To the Editor. Sir,—During the past five year 3it is noticeable that many institutions which , flourished in Helensville in pre-war days have faded away and died—in some cases a rapid, and in others a lingering, demise was experienced. Of bourse, the war was to blame, and patriotic institutions arose and flourished for the many good causes which called for money and effort. But now, with . .the return of peace, patriotic societies are being, or have in most cases, been wound r up, and nothing is left. The occasion calls for a revival of some of \ the societies and clubs which made Tthings interesting in the town and district. We used to have a race meeting once upon a time. A sports club held well-conducted gatherings, and an annual regatta attracted large numbers to Helensville. The Musical Society was also an institution that did its bit toward entertaining the people. There is no reason why a revival of pre-war activity should not now take place, and it is . hoped; thaj things will look up in the near futur^ The whole district responded well to patriotic appeals, but it must be remembered that there are . many local institutions requiring funds, and efforts in raising the same should be continued with renewed vigour.— Yours, etc., ■Revival.
