THURSDAY, JULY 10th
1^ PRESENT J. Stewart (chairman), West, T. D. Johnson, H. "" Thompson,/ Jas. McLeod, W. Coutts, and the clerk (MrW.F, Raisher). The Chairman apologised for the absence of Cr Aitkenhead. MINUTES - _ Minutes of the previous meet- ■*■ ing were read and confirmed. CORREgPON DENCE Outward correspondence was confirmed. PEACE CELEBRATIONS On the motion of Cr. McLeod, seconded by Cr. Coutts, it was decided that owing to the dislocation of the railway service, the Board take no action re Peace celebrations. GRANT WAITED A letter from the Fishermen's Union was read, and on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr Johnson, it was resolved that application be made to the Minister for Marine for a grant of £250. MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION It was decided to join the Municipal Association of New Zealand. THE £7000 LOAN Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr West —That the necessary application to the Governor-in-Council and the Minister for Finance be made, that the amount of loan applied for be £7000 with a currency of 36^ years, and that the securities be an annual recurring rate of Id in the £1 on all rateable properties in the Helensville Town District. ELECTRIC LIGHTING SCHEME Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr West —That the scheme include power as well as lighting, and that the necessary alteration in the formula be made. MAINTENANCE OF ROAD The Chairman reported that he had applied to the Chairman of the Waitemata County Council for supply of metal to help maintain that portion of Mill Road cut up by the Council in carting supplies. The action of the Chairman was approved. ■ APPLICATION FOR GRANTS Proposed by the Chairman and seconded by Cr Thompson —That application be made to the Minister for Public Works for the following grants: £250 for widening Mill Road; £150 to complete metalling Ratawhiri Road ; £100 to complete gap in Awaroa Road. CEMETERY UPKEEP Proposed by Cr McLeod and seconded by Cr Thompson—That application be made to the Waitemata County Council for the sum of £10 at once and £5 per year afterwards towards the upkeep of the Helensville cemetery.
