HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.
THURSDAY, JUNE 13TH
PRESENT
Comrs. J. Stewart (chairman), C. West, T. D. Johnson, H. Thompson, .Jas. McLeod, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). The Chairman apologised for the absence of Messrs W. Coutts, and H. Aitkenhead.
MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
CORRESPONDENCE
Outward correspondenct was confirmed.
A letter was received from the Organising Secretary Farmers' Union, re electric lighting. It was proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr Johnson —That the letter be received and steps taken to have representation on the Hydro Electric Power Association.
WAR IROPHIES
Correspondence was read from the Minister for Defence, re war trophies. The Chairman proposed and Cr Thompson seconded —That acting on terms of the Hon. Minister's letter, application be »made to Headquarters at Whangarei for a share of the war trophies.
REPATRIATION COMMITTEE
A letter was received from the Hon. Minister for Repatriation. The following names wei-e suggested for a local Committee — Messrs James Stewart (Town Board), H. Thompson (Labour), Jas 4 McLeod (Employers), J. A. Wilson (Red Cross).
ELECTRIC LIGHTING
On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr West, it was resolved —That Mr Ziman be instructed to prepare necessary formula for taking poll re electric lighting scheme and raising of loan of £7000.
LOAN WANTED
Proposed by the Chairman and seconded by Or. Johnson —That application be made to the State Advances Office for loan to pay off the debenture a/c at the Union Bank.
REPORTS WATER AND DRAINAGE
The Chairman reported that drainage of swamps was nearly completed, posts had been delivered, road closed, and fence line was being surveyed.
ROADS
The Chairman explained what had been done, and proposed (Cr Thompson seconded) —That 100 yards of shell bo obtained through Mr Logan McLeod.
Cr McLeod drew attention to the bad state of No. 8 Avenue.
RATES
It was agreed to strike rates as advertised, for period covering April 1, 1919, to March 31, 1920, and water and drainage charges for current half year.
