The Acting Prime Minister, Sir James Allen, told a deputation that at the oresent time New Zealand's war pensions bill amounted to £1,700,000 per year £4o connn Poßed tt Would go up to £2,000 000 per year, and then he hoped it would gradually fall.
The pension, in New Zealand were the highest in the world, higher than Australia, Canada, the United State, of Amenca, or any country he knew of. beemg that the proportion of eoldiers sent by New Zealand vras so high in comparison with other cpuntrie., the above record is particularly good, and goes to show the willingne* of the population generally to do the best possible for the soldier
