SOLDIERS' UNFAITHFUL WIVES.
Not a few New Zealand soldiers have returned from the war to discover that during their absence their wives have been " carrying on." In referring to this matter at Wellington the other day (writes my Wellington colleague) the Chairman of the Executive of the War Relief Association said : "It's very hard on these fellows to find that while they have been fighting for the Empire their wives have gone off with other men. So many cases of this kind have cropped up recently that it has been suggested by the Minister for Justice that the Crown should make some provision in order to enable soldiers to meet the expenses of divorce proceedings where it can be shown that they have not been to blame." I have heard of a case myself in which a soldier residing in the Auckland district found when he reached his home a few weeks ago, after a strenuous time at the Front, that not only had his wife disappeared but the furniture had also vanished.
