M., Waharo. —Please inform me how to constructor make teatree drains. If parallel drains are made, say, 7 to 9 chains apart, should any cross-drains be required ?

The Fields Division. —To construct manuka drains cut a channel in the usual way, tapering at the bottom to the width of a spade, and lay therein scrub to a depth of about 6in., pressing it down firmly and evenly, and then replacing the earth. If parallel drains are from 7 to 9 chains apart it will be necessary for efficient drainage to make lateral drains every 2 chains, or, if the subsoil is very tenacious. 1 chain apart
