THURSDAY. DECEMBER 12th
f{ PRESENT Conors. J. Stewart (chairman), Jas. H. Aitkenhead, W. Couttsy C. West, H. Thompson, and the clerk (Mr W. F. Raisher). MINUTES Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE Outward correspondence was confirmed. VOTE OF SYMPATHY Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Aitkenhead — gj[That the Board express sympathy with Mrs McLeod and family in the demise of Mr Isaac McLeod, and wish to place on record appreciation of that gentleman's public service to the district many years. TENDERS Proposed by Cr. McLeod and ■econded by Cr. Aitkenhead— That fresh tenders be called for Fire Brigade station. DEFERRED Proposed by Cr" McLeod and seconded by the Chairman —That the laying on of water to Fishermen's Wharf be deferred for three months. CEMETERY The Chairman reported that a good deal of work had been done at the cemetery, but much still remained that needed attention. CATTLE TRAFFIC Proposed by Cr. Aitkenhead. seconded by Cr. West—That the cattle traffic question be deferred to next meeting. DRAINAGE A letter was received from the Secretary A. and P. Association, re drainage connection. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. West—That the matter be deferred to Water and Drainage Committee to report at next meeting. RUBBISH TIP Letter was received from Mr W. JVEllett, re rubbish tip. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Thompson, it was decided —That the Board's men be authorised to cover refuse at once with soil, and that tip be closed at once and the matter advertised. Proposed by Cr. Aitkeahead seconded by Cr. Thompson —That the Road Committee endeavour to find a suitable place for use as a tip and report to next meeting. WAGES AND EPIDEMIC Proposed by Cr. Aitkenhead, seconded by'.Cr. Thompson —That the Board's employees absent through the epidemic be paid full wages on this occasion. HOLIDAYS Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. McLeod —That the Board's office be closed from 24th December to 4th January inclusive. RATES In pursuance of notice of motion, the Chairman moved and Cr. Aitkenhead seconded —That on account of epidemic time for payment of rates be extended to January 14th, 1919. HOSPITAL WANTED The Chairman moved and Cr. Thompson seconded —That Cr. Aitkenhead and the mover ? arrange to meet the Auckland Hospital Board . with a view to arranging for a permanent Public Hospital at Helensville. CONCRETE TRACK Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. Aitkenhead — That Mr H. Munroe Wilson (a) "state his fee for plans and specifications for concrete traffic track from Helensville Station to Kaipara Bridge ; (b) state approx- | imately the cost of same. , .^LIN TO BE CLEANED Cr; reported on the state of theftuxiliary drain, and it was to instruct Mr Fifield to clean/ same. REDUCTION WANTED Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Cr. West—That the Hospital Board be asked to re~ dUbe annual fee of £25 for Health Inspector. THANKS Proposed by Cr. Thompson, seconded by Cr. West—That a letter be sent to Mr Shepherd, ' Health Officer, thanking him for his painstaking efforts in helping to combat the recent epidemic in the district. Proposed by Cr. West, seconded
by Cr. Thompson—That the Chairman (Mr Jas. Stewart), Mr Aitkenhead, the Clerk, and all others who assisted sufferers and alleviated distress during the epidemic be thanked for their services. ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £231 9s Id were passed for payment.
