m War Ends with German Surrender. TEPJIS ACCEPTED IN FULL CESSATION OF ALL HOSTILITIES ON MONDAY. THE signing of the Allied armistice terms by the German Envoys is officially announced. Hostilities ceased at 11 o'clock on Monday morning, French time, equivalent to 10.30 p.m. on Monday Auckland time. The President of the United States that all America's war aims had been secured by the terms •of the armistice accepted by Germany, The Premier, addressed a huge crowd in London, said ? "You are entitled to rejoice. The people of Britain, the Allies, the Dominions, and India have won the most wonderful victory for liberty in the history of the world," It is reported that the Kaiser has escaped over the Dutch border, and has been interned in Holland. The King of Bavaria is reported to have fled with his family, while the King of Saxony has been dethroned. . The German Crown Prince is reported to have been shot while crossing the Dutch border. TERMS IMPOSED ON GERMANY: All occupied territory to be evacuated. The repatriation of all inhabitants of occupied territory. The evacuation of the left bank of the Rhine. The occupation by the Allies of Mainz, Coblenz' and Cologne, and a 20-mile radius on the right bank of the Rhine. A neutral zone to be established on the left bank of the Rhine. The evacuation by Germany of Rhineland (Alsace - Lorraine) within 16 days. Great surrender of guns, ammunition, and war materials. All submarines at sea or ready to be put to sea to be surrendered within 14 days. The Germans to disarm six battle-cruisers, 10 battleships, 8 liglit cruisers, and 50 destroyers "**under supervision of the Allies. Heligoland to be occupied in order that the conditions may be enforced by the Allies. No transfer of German mercancantile marine to neutral flags. The immediate repatriation, without reciprocity of Germans, of Allied and United States prisoners. German troops in Russia, Roumania, and elsewhere to be withdrawn. The complete abandonment of the Bucharest and Brest Litovsk treaties. The duration of the armistice is to be 36 days. "N LOCAL DEMONSTRATIONS CURTAILED OWING TO EPIDEMIC. The news of Germany's acceptance of the armistice terms of the Allies was received in Helensville at 9.30 on Monday morning, but;owing to the request of Dr. J. P. Frengley, actingchief health officer, that nothing should be done which would cause to congregate, no public demonstration took place. The Dairy Factory whistle and siren made the first announcement, then the firebell and steamers at the wharf took up the running. Every available flag in the town was hoisted, and the Post Office and business places closed for the rest of the day. At 3 p.m. the townspeople gathered in front of Post Office, when short addresses were given by Mr Stewart (Chairman of the Town Board), Mr Aitkenhead, and the Rev. Butter worth. Mr H. White presided at the organ, the National Anthem and Doxology were sung, and cheers given for the " King," " Allies," " Our Boys^^c. In the evening an procession was formed, patriotic songs sung, and later the Kaiser's effigy was burned in front of the Star Theatre.
