HELENSVILLE QUEEN CARNIVAL.

The following are the winners in the recent Guessing Competitions :— Cakes—Firat, Mr Wardell; 2nd, 10/-, Miss Small; 3rd cake, Mr Bagnall. Pincushion—Miss Mavis Wallace. Watch—Mr Dwerryhouse. Pink Silk Nightdress —Mr H, J. Hallom. Medicine Chest—Miss Maggie Martin. Palm Stand—Mr H. White. Pillow Shams — Mrs Walters, who 1 kindly handed them back for sale, and j they were purchased by Miss Guise. Doll—Mr Stone. Also returned, to be sold ; purchased by Dr. Meinhold. —Breach of Promise CaseConsiderable public interest is being taken |in this singular case, and it is expected that the Court will be crowded on Friday evening 11th inst. The storekeepers have kindly consented to close at 7.30. The following jury will be erapannelled : Mr Holloway Beecham (foreman), Flossy Fewclothes, Arabella Dardanella Streak, Ally Sloper, Sissy Bridgehead, Harriet Jones, Mary Ann Murphy, Dottie Dash, Ohirangi Iron Bark, Scotty Tallyho, Jimmie Hot Box Horace Blowhard. The costumes (wonderful creations some of them) are being supplied by Professor Eagleton and Madam Elise. A facial artiste (direct from His Majesty's Theatre) is giving his services. Gross proceeds will be handed to Red Cross funds. A dance will follow, at which those taking part in the case will wear their stage costumes. The capable lady " Gunters " of Helensville are kindly providing supper. The motor 'bus will run to and from Parakai for the occasion.
