The Mairetahi Queen Carnival Sports held in the Show Ground on Saturday last was a great success, the attendance being good, and the racing events were numerous and keenly contested.

On Saturday last Helensville and Kaukapakapa football teams played a very interesting match in Mr D. Stewart's paddock. There was a good attendance, and the game ended in a win for the local boys by six points to three. The proceeds went to the Red Cross funds.

There was a good attendance at the military memorial service in the Lyric Theatre on Sunday afternoon last, when Mr S L. P. Rimmer gave a most interesting address, basing his remarks on the prophesies of the Bible and their fulfillment in the present war.

An induction service will take place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church this Thursday evening to induct the Rev. Wm. Butterworth to the Helensville Charge. The service will commence at 7.30 p.m., to be followed by a social at 8.30 p.m. All interested are given a cordial invitation.

The Rev. L. J. Hodson preached his farewell sermon on Sunday evening last at the Presbyterian Church. There was a large attendance, and at the close of the •ervica Mr Hodson was presented with a purse of sovereigns as a small token of esteem from the people of Helensville. Mr Hodson left for Takapau, Hawke's Bay, on Wednesday.

! Mr G. A. Green of Auckland will conduct the services at the Church of Christ, Helensville (both morning and evening) on Sunday next. His evening subject will be " The three appearinga of Christ." with special reference to the present "happenings in Palestine. Private G. T. W. Green, M.M., recently returned from the.Front, is expected to be present and take part in the servicea.

Attention is drawn to an alteration in the fees at the Helensville Private Hoipital, which wi\l, take effect from Ist November; this is necessary owing to war conditions. Fees, 3 guineas per week; confinements, 35s before and 3 guineas afterwards.
